Positive: This is a beautiful property with many period features, and the house under which it sits is rightly described by one of the neighbours as the best house in Galaxidi. This is a lovely space if you don’t need to cook, store much food, or need much light indoors to read or work. It would be a perfect base for a short stay.

Negative: I don’t usually write reviews, but there are some facts about renting this property that are not clear from the website, and therefore this may be helpful to others. There were no reviews of this property when I booked, so we were entirely reliant on the listing. This lack of clarity is partly because some of the photos which claim to show the basement property are from the main house. I have circled these on the attached photos. What was listed as an ‘equipped kitchenette with toaster’ was actually a sink, hotel-style mini-bar fridge, non-working coffee machine and kettle, with only one socket. (The coffee machine was replaced.) There is no toaster. There is no hob or oven, though one ring and pans were brought down from the main house when I asked where the cooking facilities were, and why we had been given raw eggs on arrival. We did not use the ring, because it would have had to be set up on the wooden floor. There is a photo of the kitchenette. It is small and greenish. The big, light, white and blue sink photo is not from this property. (When I queried these discrepancies, the representative from Athens claimed that I was confusing the two properties from the website. I have checked this carefully, and I was not.) The door to the property is below ground on the left of the main entrance to the house itself. The property is in a courtyard with a small plunge pool. We were told that we would have the courtyard to ourselves, and we did. This is vital: there is only one table and chairs outside, no sunchairs etc (I bought one), and no dining table indoors. There is a large one in the main house as pictured. The desk pictured is also not in this property, and there is not enough natural light downstairs for this to be a true representation. The photos of both properties are very professionally taken. We arranged for cleaning and laundry to happen during our two-week stay.
