Summary: I booked this hotel last April for August. I have heard of it because of their afternoon tea and wanted to try it. I booked the afternoon tea directly with the hotel and let me tell you that it was the best afternoon tea I have ever done! Better than the plaza in NYC. Not only the food was delicious but the staff was great too. We also eat at their number one restaurant and really, the restaurant deserves a Michelin star! The food was outstanding and the dishes with fishes from Scotland were delicious. I also booked the breakfast at the hotel and you should too as my mum had the best eggs Benedict with salmon of her life! Service was impeccable too and the staffs speak different languages from Italian, French to English of course. Regarding the rooms, on the night we checked in, I was very disappointed with the room. First floor, facing the street, not a lot of light, very intense blue flowers wall paper. I wanted to change room. So long story short, the next day, I went to the front desk and Shubham went above and beyond! We moved to the 6 floor, court yard facing ( super quiet) and a nice yellow flowers wall paper. As I learned later all the rooms are différents. In the end, Shubham really changed our stay and because of his services, I will go back to the Balmoral. Not only the location is perfect, close to everything and everything the hotel offers make it a great place to stay if you are in Edinburgh.
