Positive: Our stay at Casa Arokaria in Vokoulies, Crete, was nothing short of magical, and much of that enchantment can be attributed to our truly extraordinary host, Kovi. Nestled in a peaceful, rural haven amidst ancient olive trees and vibrant fruit trees, laden with juicy oranges and lemons, Casa Arokaria offers a serene escape with breathtaking garden and mountain views. It’s the perfect place to immerse yourself in the natural beauty and tranquility of Crete. From the moment we arrived, Kovi made us feel not just welcome, but like cherished friends. She is, without a doubt, the quintessential perfect host, bringing effortless solutions to every single query we had. Whether we were seeking the most pristine, secluded beaches to bask in the Mediterranean sun, or craving authentic local tavernas for an unforgettable dining experience, Kovi’s recommendations were always spot-on, leading us to hidden gems we would never have discovered on our own. And if you have a sweet tooth, be sure to ask her about the local pastries – her advice led us to some truly unmissable treats! But Kovi's generosity extended far beyond expert guidance. Our accommodation, a comfortable and well-equipped apartment complete with a full kitchen and a lovely outdoor space, felt like a home away from home. Yet, it was the thoughtful touches from Kovi that truly elevated our experience. She bestowed upon us the finest local olives, rich, golden homemade olive oil, and a delightful assortment of her own homemade cookies that were simply irresistible. And of course, no Cretan welcome would be complete without a taste of genuine raki, which she also generously shared. These personal gifts were a testament to her warmth and the true spirit of Cretan hospitality. We particularly cherished the sweetest orange juice we ever tasted, made from their own Valencia crop, and we're already dreaming of the winter Merlin orange crop, which Kovi assured us is even sweeter!
Negative: Our only regret is that the time spent at Casa Arokaria was far too insufficient; we simply wished we could have stayed longer!
