Located just south of the airport, this attractive and spacious family home sits in the coastal neighbourhood of Ai Helis, an area considered by many Kefalonians to be one of the most sought-after parts of the island thanks to its picturesque cove beach of golden sand, excellent local amenities, numerous imposing properties and proximity to the island capital Argostoli.
Within walking distance of two tavernas, a minimarket and the gorgeous family-friendly beach itself, Ai Helis Summer House (and equally appealing sister property, Ai Helis Beach House alongside) enjoys a prime position in this coveted area.
Decorated with great taste and care, well-appointed and comfortably furnished, visitors will quickly feel at home in the sympathetically designed living accommodation, itself an irresistible invitation to relaxed summer living. Air conditioned throughout, all principal rooms are bright, fresh and welcoming with all three bedrooms having en suite facilities and access to a balcony or terrace (the sea and little islet of Zeus can be glimpsed from one) plus a ceiling fan to keep the air circulating - particularly useful at the hottest times of the year.
Outside, the substantial garden is home to a lovely private swimming pool, fringed by spacious sun terracing, lawn and indigenous shrubs including an appealingly unkempt hedge of wild oleander and unruly banana palms!
Sheltered by towering cliffs, the lovely Ai Helis Beach is less than 400m away. Accessed via steps or an unmade track, sunbeds, umbrellas, a seasonal beach bar for snacks/cooling drinks, occasional water sports and plenty of space for impromptu games of volleyball can all be found here. Other beaches worth visiting (and all within a 5-15 minute drive) include Avithos, Ammes, Platis Gialos and Makris Gialos.Two tavernas are within 350m of the house and a minimarket 450m.
Famous for the skilled wrought iron craftsmanship of its blacksmiths, the sleepy village of Svoronata (2.5km) has a couple of simple shops and local tavernas or head to the island capital, Argostoli (12km) which is home to all amenities, a wealth of excellent restaurants and a bustling waterfront lined with coffee shops, bars, bakeries and wonderful fresh produce shops (mornings are a great time to visit as graceful sea turtles can regularly be spotted swimming directly alongside the quay).
Of note: Sister property Ai Helis Beach House sits in its own private and independent grounds to one side. Rented together with Ai Helis Summer House they would be a good choice for a group of friends or perhaps two families looking to holiday together while fully retaining their own individual space, independence and privacy.
